Fall Membership Kickoff: Answer the Call to Action
Dear WDC members and friends,
I have one request for you today. Please save the date on Saturday, September 26, for our upcoming
Fall Membership Kickoff from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. WDC is planning a dynamic, interactive event that will be part-rally and part-volunteer fair. We’re asking you to join us to engage in activities to protect our democracy and aid our communities.
The kickoff theme this year is “Answer the Call to Action.” We’ll be hosting multiple Maryland and Montgomery County–based organizations that offer opportunities to make an impact on this election and beyond. The featured organizations will include those that 1) promote and protect voting and our elections 2) get out the vote to ensure significant Democratic wins 3) advocate for key issues for Democrats 4) provide aid to Marylanders being harmed by this administration.
We’ve invited some stellar Democrats to get us fired up and moving forward. They include Senator Angela Alsobrooks, Congressman Jamie Raskin, Congresswoman April McClain Delaney, Governor Wes Moore, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller, Comptroller Brooke Lierman, and Speaker of the House Joseline Pena Melnyk.
Add September 26 to your calendar, please watch your email, and check our web site for more information in the coming weeks. Let’s make a big Democratic difference—together.
Cynthia Rubenstein, President
Notice to WDC Membership: Proposed By-Law Amendment for Youth Membership
On August 2, 2026, a resolution was unanimously passed by the WDC Board for an amendment to bylaws language and provisions for WDC membership qualifications and eligibility. This amendment would allow full membership for youth twenty-five years old or under. The amended bylaws language would allow our Next Gen cohort youth to be full members of WDC. (WDC’s Next Gen youth are primarily high school and college age students.) This bylaws amendment will be presented and voted upon by the WDC members present at our Fall kickoff membership meeting event on September 26, 2026. For more information, click here.
